Every great community has a mascot, and here at Montague Burton Residences, we have one that's become a much-loved part of student life: Monty the Mole.

While you won't find Monty's name on any official university documents, residents will come to know that this cheerful burrowing character is the heart and soul of Montague Burton. 

Who is Monty?

Monty is a friendly mole with a big personality and an even bigger connection to Montague Burton. Just like the students who live here, Monty is curious, hardworking, and always ready to explore new opportunities!

You'll spot Monty throughout your time at Montague Burton, from events and social media posts to decorations and friendly conversations, making him a memorable part of the residence community.

In fact, you'll get to meet some of Monty's little friends at Monty's Mole Hunt, taking place on Wednesday, 16 September, at Montague Burton: 

Why a Mole?

It's a fair question.

Moles are known for building networks of tunnels beneath the surface, creating connected communities underground. In many ways, that's exactly what happens here at Montague Burton! Residents arrive from different backgrounds, courses, cities, and countries, but quickly form connections that turn a collection of rooms into a thriving community.

Welcome to the Burrow

Whether you're joining Montague Burton for the first time or returning for another year, Monty the Mole would like to extend a warm welcome.

Take part in events, get to know your neighbours, try something new, and make memories that you'll look back on long after your time at university. After all, that's what life at Montague Burton is all about.

And if you happen to spot a mysterious mound of earth around the residence... don't worry, it's probably just Monty checking in on the community.
