Whilst in halls, your Warden is here to support you with anything you need during your time living with us.
You will have the chance to meet your Warden at your Mandatory Warden Welcome Talk.
Mandatory Warden Welcome Talk:
Blenheim Point
Thursday 24th September 6pm-9pm
Pyramid Canteen and Theatre, Leeds University Union
Royal Park Flats
Monday 28 September 6pm - 8pm
Pyramid Theatre, Leeds University Union
This mandatory talk should be attended by all residents.
This talk will include key information about your halls & safety in your halls, and you will have a chance to get to know your Warden.
You must stay for the duration of the talk, but you are welcome to leave after.
Meet your Warden for Blenheim Point and Royal Park Flats
Nilisha Vashit
Hi everyone! I am Nilisha your Warden at Blenheim Point and Royal Park Flats.
I joined the University of Leeds in 2023 and work as an Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Manager.
I am originally from Delhi, India where I studied for my B.Sc. (Botany) and M.Sc. (Anthropology), moving to the U.K. for further studies in mental health at University College London.
I've been in the U.K. for eleven years now, and love every bit of it! Most of my study and work years in the U.K. have been spent in London but I now call Leeds my home since 2023 (and hopefully forever!).
Living in halls is an incredible experience and hopefully one you'll remember (for all good reasons) throughout your life.
As an international student who made her first friends and found a community through living in halls, I am personally a big advocate for socialising within your hall spaces.
Three top tips from me, then, would be:
- Get to know people around you - we all bring something unique with us to uni - experiences, personalities, hobbies, dreams and hopes. What better to start your years of broadening your horizons than by tapping into these from people around you?
- Get involved in the social committee if you have the time and capacity- shape a hall you'd love and help us do even better!
- Reach out to Residence Life Assistants and/or hall Warden if you would like advice, support or are struggling with something. We are a friendly bunch and here to help!
Residence Life Social Committee
Whilst in Halls you have the opportunity to join your Residence Life Social Committee!
The Residence Life Social Committee programme (RLSC) provides you with the opportunity to run events for residents in your hall, and to make the most of your time in halls.
You'll meet regularly as a Committee and work within a budget to plan exciting social events, fundraisers and campaigns. It’s a great way to meet people, get involved in the community and develop important professional skills including event management, teamwork and time management.
You will also get to be part of a wider personal development programme focused on expanding your leadership and team-building abilities.
