Make the most of Winter in Leeds

Posted 2 weeks ago

The nights may be darker, but Leeds comes alive in the Winte

Make the most of your break by exploring the city’s offerings, whether it’s indulging in delicious treats, skating under the stars, or enjoying the magic of a theatre performance. As the winter break approaches, check out ResLife’s favourite things to do in the city to make the most of the festive season in Leeds.

Christmas Markets

Leeds’ Christmas Market is back for 2025, running from November 21 to December 21.

From 21 November to 21 December, City Square will dazzle with festive charm when up to sixty beautifully decorated chalets take over the space as well as two bars – the Ranch Bar and The Windmill Bar – serving up seasonal cheer.

At Bond Court, local favourite Little Bird Markets will be hosting a local makers market from Thursday to Sunday from 20 November to 21 December.

At the heart of the city, on Millennium Square and Victoria Gardens, you’ll find festive market stalls alongside Christmas rides including the Carousel, the Big Wheel and Ice Cube ice-skating, which is on from 21 November to 31 December.

Festive Shows at the Theatre

As always, the Winter season is packed with spectacular performances across Leeds’ theatres and venues. There’s classic British pantomimes including A Christmas Carol, Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin: The Rock 'n' Roll Panto and festive performance of The Nutcracker from the Northern Ballet.

Cosy Tipis

If you need a break from the cold, come in and get cosy at one of the city's pop-up tipis. At Thor’s Tipi Bar, you can sip hot chocolate, mulled cider, or craft ales by the warmth of an open fire, and are perfect for catching up with friends or enjoying a relaxed evening after a day out in the city.

Ice Skating

Nothing says winter like gliding across an ice rink! Leeds features pop-up outdoor ice skating rinks that are perfect for all skill levels. These rinks are a fantastic way to embrace the season, whether you’re a pro skater or just there for a laugh.
