You’ve only just started your university journey, so you definitely don’t need to have your future figured out yet. But your time at Leeds is full of opportunities to discover what interests you, develop new skills and start thinking about where your degree could take you.
This October, Careers Support Weeks offer a series of events to help you build skills and confidence that will be useful throughout your time at university and beyond.
From learning how to talk about your strengths to finding out what employers look for, you can get practical advice now that you can come back to when you need it in the future.
Build your application skills: 5 to 16 October
You might not be applying for graduate jobs just yet, but knowing how to recognise and talk about your skills can help with part-time jobs, internships, volunteering opportunities and future applications.

You might come across assessment centres when applying for placements, internships or graduate opportunities later in your university journey.
These sessions are a chance to find out how they work and pick up tips that you can use when the time comes.

Interview skills can come in handy sooner than you might think, whether you're looking for a part-time job alongside your studies, applying for an internship or getting involved in opportunities at Leeds.
