How To Romanticise Campus This Autumn

Posted 21 hours ago

Who doesn't love a bit of whimsy?

Autumn is one of the best times to enjoy campus life at Leeds uni. The leaves are changing, the air is crisp, and everything feels a bit more cosy.

If you're looking to make your everyday routine feel a little more special during the autumn season, here are some simple ways to romanticise your time on campus.

Grab a hot drink before lectures

Start your day with a warm drink from one of the cafés on campus.

Whether it’s coffee, tea, or hot chocolate, a hot drink can make the walk to lectures feel a bit more comforting and cosy as the weather gets colder.

Sit on a bench and enjoy green spaces on campus

Consider having a quick break to sit outside for a few minutes.

There are plenty of benches around campus where you can watch the leaves fall, spot squirrels and bunnies running about, or just enjoy the fresh air. It’s also a good way to slow down and clear your head in-between your course commitments.

Find a window seat in the library when it rains

Rainy days are perfect for dark academia vibes (if you've ever read during a storm, you know exactly what I mean). Try to find a seat near a window next time you visit and let the sound of the rain help you focus. It’s surprisingly calming and makes studying feel less stressful.

Dress for the season

Autumn is the time for comfy clothes. Pull out your grandad jumpers, knitted scarves, and gloves.

Vinted is great for buying colder weather clothes, LUU also holds vintage clothes sales every so often so make sure to keep an eye out if you're looking for that perfect jumper for the colder months.

Explore new routes around campus

Instead of taking the same path every day, why not try a new route? You might find a quiet shortcut, a hidden garden or a building on campus that you’ve never noticed before.

Walk through St George’s field

St George’s Field is beautiful in autumn. The trees turn all shades of red, orange, and yellow, and it’s a peaceful place to take a walk close by to campus.

Whether you go alone or with a friend, it’s a great way to enjoy the season.

Appreciate the little things

It's important to remember that romanticising campus doesn’t mean doing anything fancy, it’s just about noticing the little things and making your day feel a bit more special.

Try a few of these ideas and see how they change the way you experience Leeds this autumn.
