Clear your clutter for a cause!

By LucyMcDonald 29 Feb 2024

🌸 Spring Clean Alert: Clear Your Clutter for a Cause! 🌸

Are your shelves sagging under the weight of too many knick-knacks and clothes? Feeling the urge to declutter, but not sure where to start? Well, fear not! We've got the perfect solution: Spring Clean for a Cause!

👚 Out with the Old, In with the Sustainable! 👖

Ever considered donating those pre-loved items instead of letting them gather dust? Think about it: while selling on platforms like Vinted and Depop sounds tempting, it can take ages and contributes to those pesky carbon emissions from shipping.

🌍 Why donate? Here's the lowdown: 🌱

Reduce Carbon Footprint: By donating to clothing banks, you're cutting down on carbon emissions from shipping. Win-win for you and the planet!

Say No to Fast Fashion: Promote a circular economy by keeping those fast fashion giants in check. No more exploiting the environment or underpaying workers!

Boost Your Neighbourhood: Donations to charity shops mean more foot traffic in local communities. It's like giving your neighbourhood a cheers!

Declutter, Destress, Delight: Clearing out your space isn't just about tidying up—it's about improving your mental well-being too. Less clutter, more zen vibes! 🧘‍♂️

💸 Make a Difference, One Donation at a Time! 💖

Did you know that your donations can help fund groundbreaking research? We're talking about saving lives here! Last year alone, the University of Leeds raised over £55,000 worth of donations for the British Heart Foundation. But we're not stopping there—we're aiming higher this year!

🏆 Challenge Accepted: Let's Beat Those Donation Records! 🚀

Shoutout to Lyddon Hall and St Mark's Residences for their impressive donation game last year! Can you help your accommodation clinch the top spot this time around?

📅 Save the Date: March 6th- Student Sustainability Conference 📅

Got some winter stuff to unload before Easter break? Swing by the Student Sustainability Conference and drop it off at the British Heart Foundation collection point and keep the good vibes going!

📅 Save the Date: Easter Break 📅

Can’t take your clothes home with you or stressed about moving out? We know there isn’t a lot of change over time between housing so unload your suitcase by dropping stuff off before the rush! A lot of clothing gets left behind at accommodations and bins can overflow in summer due to moving-out dates.

🌟 Ready to Make a Difference? 🌟

Grab those bags, clear out your closet, and let's do this! Together, we can clean up, declutter, and make a positive impact on our community and the environment. Spring cleaning never felt so good!
