First of all, a very warm welcome to Henry Price and the University of Leeds! The team and I are incredibly excited to welcome you into the year ahead.
My ‘day job’ is within Residences so I’m genuinely really lucky that I get to experience the excitement and the preparation for your arrival, welcoming you on your first day and then being able to support with creating lasting experiences that you’ll take with you when you graduate and head into the world.
Throughout the year, we’ll be here to support you through your first year of University, perhaps even the first time you’ve ever lived away from home. There’s a world of experiences and friends to be made both within Henry Price, and the University, and the team here will work to get you settled into University life in no time.
It doesn’t feel like 2 minutes ago that I was at University so I understand all the excitement and nervousness that you’re no doubt feeling as you prepare for your first year. The Residence Life Assistants are working through their degree’s just like you are, so they’re really great people to touch base with.
It’s really important that the time spent with us is an enjoyable and homely experience, so if you have any ideas about how to enrich that, our Social Committee might just be for you. I’m always looking for new experiences for you to enjoy whilst you stay with us and in all honesty, I would appreciate the opportunity to work more closely with you to deliver these.
Alongside the welfare and pastoral support, we’ll make sure that there’s lots of activities to keep you all together as a community. Last year we had trips to Bolton Abbey, Bowling, Junkyard Golf, Axe Throwing, Pizza Night and even Flamingo Land.
Keep an eye out for us on moving in day – The team and I will be in our purple t-shirts if there’s anything you want to chat through. If we miss you at intake, don’t worry as there’s an opportunity to meet you at the Warden Talk. This is a great chance to get together as a residence and to start putting names to faces.
I may be biased but the University of Leeds really is a wonderful place to live and study. You should be immensely proud of yourself for becoming a part of this incredible alumni.
We look forward to meeting you soon!
