Meet your Warden at Sentinel Towers
Imran Nawaz
Hi everyone! I am Imran your Warden for Sentinel Towers
I have worked at the University of Leeds for five years, supporting our Living in University students and residence.
I'm born in Yorkshire and lived here most of my life and studied Economics and Finance at Oxford Brookes University.
I enjoy my country side walks and the Leeds city life style. Its nice to have the best of both Worlds: Leeds for its city life hustle and bustle and then the stunning, tranquil landscapes of Yorkshire (like Bronte Country & Yorkshire Dales) for your weekends.
I completed a road trip on the The Karakoram Highway in 2020. The highway, connecting the Gilgit–Baltistan region to the ancient Silk Road, runs approximately 1,300 km from Kashgar, a city in the Xinjiang region of China, to Abbottabad, of Pakistan.
My top three tips for living in Halls are:
- Set up your space in your flat / house
Prioritise comfort and pack smartly when coming to university, as you cant bring everything with you. - Get involved
While at university get involved and attend social events organised, setup and be part of residential social club/s. - Learn to respect and
navigate your shared kitchens / spaces
Clean up as you go - don't let dirty dishes pile up, respect you communal space. - Communicate early with your flat mates and setup boundaries
Living with strangers means you may have difference of opinion and who to approach using shared social spaces."
Residence Life Social Committee
Whilst in Halls you have the opportunity to join your Residence Life Social Committee!
The Residence Life Social Committee programme (RLSC) provides you with the opportunity to run events for residents in your hall, and to make the most of your time in halls.
You'll meet regularly as a Committee and work within a budget to plan exciting social events, fundraisers and campaigns. It’s a great way to meet people, get involved in the community and develop important professional skills including event management, teamwork and time management.
You will also get to be part of a wider personal development programme focused on expanding your leadership and team-building abilities.
