Places to relax on and around campus

As a commuter student you might find yourself in Leeds early due to travel times. We're here to provide advice of spaces you can visit on and around campus before and after University opens to make your stay more comfortable. 

Libraries 

Libraries are the best option for spaces to go-to during early and later hours. With access to seats and plugs, you can find plenty of space to relax before or after lectures. 

Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week


This is the most reliable early and late open space.


Best for: silent study areas, group study rooms, IT access, long‑hour study sessions.


Monday - Friday open 8am - 12am 

Saturday - Sunday open 10am - 12am 


Best for: Undergraduates, group study rooms, Skills@Library Zone, computer access.

Access after 6pm and at weekends is through the Level 7 entrance only. Go via the sustainable garden and along the walkway beside the Garstang Building. Scan your ID card to enter or press the intercom button for library help.

Cafés on campus 

Cafes aren't open as early as libraries, however, if you need a coffee or quick snack before lectures, there are some great places you can visit across campus. 

Located right at the heart of University campus, the contemporary Refectory venue offers a wide range of hot and cold food each day.

Located on the Ground Floor of the Nexus, the contemporary space provides a welcoming environment to relax and unwind.


The hot drink offering is up there with the best specialist coffee shops in the city, including coffees from Cafeology, tea from Canton and exceptional Belgian hot chocolate from Callebaut. In addition, we have a large range of delicious freshly prepared deli style sandwiches and salads made in store daily.

Located in the Worsley building, Café Seven is one of our most popular and vibrant cafés. Recently refurbished the large seating area is a great place to meet with friends.

The café is designed with style and function in mind. The space is equipped with plenty of charging sockets, making it a great place to study while you enjoy cup of speciality coffee from Cafeology. It also offers a sociable and relaxed environment, perfect for meeting with friends or colleagues for a chilled lunch break.

Hugo, the Camionnette Café, is one of the more unique members of the Great Food at Leeds team and sells a range of delicious products including coffees, croissants, and fresh sandwiches for lunch as well as scrummy pastries.


He’s conveniently located on the main precinct, so you can easily grab a bite for breakfast on your way into the University or grab a quick lunch or snack on the go.

Spaces in the City Centre 

If you're arriving or leaving from the City Centre, there are a couple of spots along the way that you can spend time in: 

Monday open 7am - 3pm 

Tuesday - Thursday open 7am - 4pm 

Friday open 7am - 3pm

Monday - Friday open 7.30am - 6pm


Access to hot drinks, WIFI and charging spots. It's also accessible. 




Monday - Friday open 7.00am - 9.30pm
