We’re thrilled to welcome all our new January starters to the University of Leeds!

Moving into University accommodation is an exciting step, and we’re here to make sure you feel at home from day one.

What to expect when you arrive

Our Residences team is ready to help you settle in. From check-in support to answering any questions about your new home, we’ll ensure your arrival is smooth and stress-free.

Look out for our friendly Residence staff and Residence Life Assistants (RLAs) in your accommodation, they’re here to support you during your time with us in halls. 

Embrace the University community

Joining the University of Leeds means you’re part of a vibrant, diverse community.

We understand it may be intimidating joining the University in January, but don't worry! Residences Life offers plenty of opportunities to meet new people and make friends. 

Keep an eye on our events page for social activities, wellbeing sessions, and workshops designed to help you feel included and supported during your time with us. Don't worry if you come alone, we're a friendly bunch who will make sure you are included in any activities we do. 

Your Residence Life Social Committee (RSLC) also puts on events specifically at your residence, so if you want to meet people who live in the same accommodation, make sure to follow your RLSC Instagram account which you can find through the post below. 

Your wellbeing matters

Starting University mid-year can feel different, but you’re not alone.

Our RLA's and Wardens are here to support you - whether it’s advice on settling in, managing your studies, or just someone to talk to, we’re here for you.

We also have a University of Leeds Counselling and Wellbeing service.

The service is ran by a team of professional counsellors, wellbeing practitioners and mental health advisor who offer free and confidential support to you during your time as a student.
