Being an RLA means being someone residents can actually turn to, not just a name on a poster in the corridor. Some weeks that might be sorting out a noise complaint, other times it's just being around enough that someone feels comfortable knocking on my door when things aren't going so great. I don't think the job is about having all the answers, it's about making sure no one feels like they're figuring out halls completely on their own.
Say yes to the awkward flat dinner in week one. It's cringe for about ten minutes and then it's the reason you actually know your flatmates by December instead of just recognising them in the kitchen.
