Join us for a trip to Malham Cove

Res Life is collaborating with GOGA on a walk at Malham Cove.

Explore the incredible Malham Cove and Tarn, situated deep in the Yorkshire Dales.

Malham Cove is a huge curving amphitheatre shaped cliff formation of limestone rock. It was formed by a waterfall carrying meltwater from glaciers at the end of the last Ice Age more than 12,000 years ago

On the top of the cove is a large area of deeply eroded limestone pavement, of a strange pattern rarely seen in England.

Interesting fact: The intricate limestone pavements may look strangely familiar - they featured in Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows. Harry & Hermione set up camp on the top of Malham Cove and scenes from the film feature views across Malham dale and down to Malham Village.

Often known as the highest β€˜lake’ in England, Malham Tarn is a haven for many native upland waterfowl. The tarn is at 377 metres (1,237 feet) above sea level and it is a beautiful spot no matter the weather.

There will be two walking route options- a shorter route for people who wish to spend more time in Malham and a longer walk for those wishing to explore further.  Please note that the length of time to explore Malham will depend on which route option you pick.
