Visit the Leeds City Museum

This is a great place to learn about the history and culture of Leeds and its people. You can explore the ancient Egyptian, Roman, and Greek collections, see the Leeds Tiger and the Leeds Mummy, and enjoy the interactive galleries and exhibitions.

The museum is free to enter and open from Tuesday to Sunday.

Enjoy live music at the Brudenell Social Club

This is one of the most popular music venues in Leeds, hosting local and international bands and artists. You can catch some of the best indie, rock, punk, and folk acts in a cosy and friendly atmosphere. The club also has a bar with cheap drinks and pool tables.

Experience the Otley Run

One of the most famous pub crawls in England — starting from Woodies Ale House in Far Headingley and ending at The Dry Dock near the city centre. You can choose from 16 pubs along the way, and fancy dress is essential!

The Otley Run is a fun and social way to meet new people and explore different parts of Leeds.

Explore Kirkstall Abbey

This is a stunning ruin of a 12th-century Cistercian monastery, set in a public park on the bank of the River Aire. You can admire the Gothic architecture, wander around the cloisters and gardens, and visit the museum that displays artefacts from the abbey’s history.

The abbey is free to enter and open from Tuesday to Sunday.

Watch a film at Hyde Park Picture House

This is one of the oldest cinemas in the country, dating back to 1914. Recently renovated, it has a charming period interior and a balcony. You can watch some of the latest releases, as well as classic films, foreign films, documentaries, and festivals.

The cinema also has a café where you can enjoy a snack or a drink before or after the show.

Visit the Royal Armouries Museum

Housing a vast collection of arms and armour from different periods and cultures, this is one of the most impressive museums in the city. You can see weapons from ancient times to modern day, such as swords, daggers, guns, cannons, and tanks. You can also watch live demonstrations, such as sword fighting, jousting, and archery.

The museum is free to enter and open every day.

Relax at Roundhay Park

One of the biggest city parks in Europe, covering over 700 acres of land. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery, with lakes, woods, gardens, and wildlife. You can also visit some of the attractions in the park, such as Tropical World, which has exotic plants and animals; Canal Gardens, which has colourful flowers and fountains; or The Mansion, which has a café, a gallery, and an events space.

Shop at Kirkgate Market

One of the largest indoor markets in Europe, with over 800 stalls selling everything from fresh food to fashion. You can find some bargains and unique items here, as well as sample some of the local delicacies, such as Yorkshire pudding or fish and chips.

The market is open from Monday to Saturday.

See a show at Leeds Grand Theatre

Built in 1878, this is one of the most elegant theatres in Leeds. It hosts some of the best shows in the country, such as musicals, operas, ballets, comedies, and dramas. You can marvel at the stunning interior design, with ornate decorations and chandeliers. You can also visit some of the bars and restaurants nearby for a pre- or post-show meal or drink.
