Everything you need to know about the big day

When to arrive

After completing your accommodation induction, you will have booked a timeslot for moving in to your residence. Please try to arrive during your booked timeslot.

Arriving out of hours

If you are arriving when your residence site office will be closed, please email us in the Accommodation Office (accom@leeds.ac.uk) at least two working days in advance so we can advise you where to collect your keys.

Getting to Leeds

By car

It’s worth checking this website to make sure you’re aware of any potential traffic disruptions before you set off. There is a planned closure of the M62 motorway between Leeds and Manchester from Friday 20 to Sunday 23 September. Please see National Highways website for more details.

Once you arrive at your residence, please make sure that you are parked in a designated parking area. There is limited parking at all of our sites and some may have drop-off zones where you can get out and unload before you need to move your car to a car park.

By train

Leeds railway station connects us with all major UK cities and has a fast and efficient London service. For train information, tickets and timetables visit the National Rail Enquiries website

By coach

For coach details, visit the National Express website. From the bus and coach station, you can take the number 6, 8, 27 or 28 bus to the University’s main entrance.

Collecting your keys

You will be directed to where you can collect your keys and check in when you arrive. You will need a valid form of photo ID to collect your keys, along with either your check in QR code or email.

Once you have checked in, you will be given your keys and your halls handbook, which contains all the key information you need to know about halls.

Inventory

Prior to your arrival, our site team will do a thorough inspection of your room and kitchen to record the condition on your pre-let inspection.

Once you have checked in, you will be able to view this through the StarRez portalYou will have 7 days to check it and notify us of any discrepancies or things you don’t agree with.

This inspection will later form the basis of your check-out inspection at the end of your tenancy, so make sure you check this properly to avoid any unnecessary charges when you move out of the property.
