Connect with other students for advice and support

A wide range of peer programmes at Leeds offer you the chance to connect with other students, including with students in upper years serving in “peer supporter” roles. Connecting with other students can be a great way to get information, insights, advice and support in relation to both your studies and to your wider university experience. Hear about what’s really helped other students; get guidance and tips from students who’ve been there before; get chances to discuss how your own university journey is going, in a supportive space. Engaging with peer programmes can also help you expand your network and feel more connected to the wider community of students at Leeds.

“My peer mentors were lovely, friendly and gave such great advice”

“They helped me feel less overwhelmed and a lot less worried”

“They greatly helped me to settle in, both academically and socially”

New students in some University schools will be automatically enrolled in some form of peer support programme in their first year, but in others you may need to sign up to access this. We really encourage you to engage with whatever peer support is available to you as a way of setting yourself up to thrive over your time at Leeds.

(Please note that there are some peer programmes, like the University’s Buddy Scheme and the Library’s Academic Writing Mentors, that students of any school and level of study can access)
