Asha Oguri
Hi everyone! I am Asha your Warden for Montague Burton.
I have worked at the University of Leeds for four years and currently I am Assistant Manager for the central Residence Life team so you'll see me at plenty of events throughout the year!
I am originally from London and moved to Leeds for my undergraduate degree in BA Social Policy. I graduated in 2019 and never left!
I absolutely love Leeds, and I am sure you will too!
- I like to spend 4 hours doing nail art on my nails every two weeks.
- I am a foodie, so I can tell you about where the best places are to eat in Leeds.
- I love to run - I ran the Hackney Half Marathon this year and am looking forward to more running challenges in the future!
- I am Mother to 'Monty the Mole', the (unofficial) official mascot of Montague Burton (you'll see plenty of him on our Instagram throughout the year!)
My top three tips for living in Halls are:
- Consider joining the Residence Life Social Committee!
Joining the Social Committee is a great way to make friends, get involved in your residential community and gain valuable skills. - Fill out your 'Happy Flat' poster when you move in with your new flatmates.
It's always a good idea to lay out some living agreements, so you are all on the same page in your new 'home away from home' - Reach out and engage with support if you need it!
Your Residence Life team genuinely cares about you and wants you to make the most of your time in halls. We're here to help :)
Residence Life Social Committee
Whilst in Halls you have the opportunity to join your Residence Life Social Committee!
The Residence Life Social Committee programme (RLSC) provides you with the opportunity to run events for residents in your hall, and to make the most of your time in halls.
You'll meet regularly as a Committee and work within a budget to plan exciting social events, fundraisers and campaigns. It’s a great way to meet people, get involved in the community and develop important professional skills including event management, teamwork and time management.
You will also get to be part of a wider personal development programme focused on expanding your leadership and team-building abilities.
