I’m Edward and I’m the Residence Life Warden for Cityside and Hepworth Lodge. Me and the team are delighted to welcome you all to your new home.

Background Information
Hi, I'm Ed, originally from Lancashire I came to Leeds to study at Leeds Beckett almost 30 years ago and never left! I started my first role at the University before leaving for short period and have worked within the Accommodation Team since 2007.
I love music, history and football. Recently i've seen Tyler Ballgame, Wednesday, Hooray for the Riff Raff & MJ Lendermann . Anything Indie, obscure, americana, folk and I love making a new discovery (so let me know if there is a band I should check out). I also love learning about history and used to give history tours of the campus in a previous role. For my sins, I'm a lifelong Everton fan (they were successful when I started supporting them!).
My favourite place in Leeds is the Brudenell Social Club, two rooms of live music most nights or just pop in for a game of pool and a drink.
Right in the centre of Hyde Park area. I've been seeing bands here since I was a student and its never been better a time to visit than now.
Honourable mention for a visit to Kirkstall Abbey (1100 century abbey short bus journey from campus) which is free and short walk along the river to the excellent Kirkstall Bridge Pub which has the best beer garden in Leeds (in my opinion :-)).
Be open to new experiences. Some you might like, some you might not and that's OK, but you wont know until you try.
Speak to your flatmates and set some ground rules for how you would like to live together. It will save any frustration or awkwardness in the long run!
If you have any concerns or worries tell a member of the Residence Life Team, please don't suffer in silence. We are literally here to help you any time.
Cheeky last one, go see a band you have never heard of and have fun!

We really encourage all students to get involved with shaping their community whilst living in halls. So if you have any ideas about making your time more enjoyable then our Social Committee might just be for you (and will look fantastic on your CV!).
As well as the support we provide, we’ll also be making sure that there’s lots of activities to help you bond as a community.
Leeds is a fantastic city to live in and study. You all should be very proud to become part of the University community. Together let’s make this year the best year yet at Leeds.
